Does anyone else have this problem on Wikipedia?

It seems that anytime I make a revision, no matter how small or trivial, even if it's just adding a sentence, with references and appropriate formatting, I always get flagged or yelled at for vandalism. It's sad that while Wikipedia claims to be a "community encyclopedia", if you try to change anything at all from it's original state without having 10000 edits under your belt, you're reverted. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem, or if I'm the only one. I can say that I've personally been deterred from using Wikipedia because of the strictness of their guidelines and downright failure to think before acting on impulses, such as deleting someone's very appropriate and kind article change.
