Song writing as a career?

I know I may be young. Sixteen to be exact, and I know teenagers attend to write a lot of lyrics and what not and they say that it's their "dream", but I would REALLY like to proceed in a career of becoming a professional song writer. I've been writing since I was 11,and been saving my songs since a year ago and I have over 600 lyrics. I've been told I have talent, and I agree I do have talent,not to sound conceited although. Is this possible for me? Also at my age, how do I go about and do something about it?
