So I got my braces off for my senior prom and was supposed to get them back on two weeks after. I just got them back on and am starting the second half of my braces in about two weeks. What is UP with everyone labeling kids as autistic lately?!?

It just seems like every time someone's kid acts a little weird or does something that could be considered autistic (even if it's something all kids probably do at one time or another), they are immediately suspicious and rushing to the doctor or whatever. Do these people secretly WISH they had an autistic kid? It's sad that while Wikipedia claims to be a "community encyclopedia", if you try to change anything at all from it's original state without having 10000 edits under your belt, you're reverted. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem, or if I'm the only one. Alright so I am 15 and my sister is 20. I am one of those people that LOVES fashion and wants to be a fashion designer and everything. I do'nt have a job, I just babysit and dog walk and thats not that much money so like I usually have to buy my own clothes because my mom believes it gives me appreciation for money. So yeah, I just feel like she outshines me. And we both shop and the same stores like charlotte russe and forever 21 and american eagle and maurices and gap, but still I just can never top her outfits. She is perfect. And people are always like "oh! your sister is so pretty!" when she is around and when its only me they are then like "oh your so pretty!" I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND! does anyone else feel this way with their older sisters? And it doesn't help that out of the four kids she is the favorite. My parents love her. and my brothers and I talk about it a lot cause its annoying.....

Need help with my social anxiety?

My mom won't take me to see anyone about it so this is my only option. I want to make more friends because at the moment I only have two. It seems as if each day I get even more shy. Jealousy/dislike ruining my marriage!?

I've been told that I need to find a therapist besides the church. I am losing my medical insurance next month, or in a few weeks and can't really afford to start counseling. Honestly, it sounds like if your friends would not accept a nice person just because he's not "hot" or whatever, then you need different friends. It's because modesty is a virtue and if you're beautiful and know it, you shouldn't say it because in this society saying something like "I'm hot!" around other people is kind of bragging. You're telling yourself you're pretty, no one else is involved in that statement so no one else needs to be around to hear you say it, so if you say "I'm so pretty!" to someone else, it's as if you're bragging that you're better than they are and it's not good character. It's great to be confident and act like you like who you are and you can tell yourself that you're pretty, but don't tell others that you're pretty. Unless of course the person's doing that because they want others to notice that they look good, then it's actually a sign of low self esteem because it means their confidence is completely dependent on other people and actually does NOT make them come off as confident. I don't know much about the publishing industry but they can potentially publish any work from a younger writer. The problem would be being taken seriously. Perhaps getting it published in more minor publications, like magazines, or sending in work to competitions, which will get you noticed. Also maybe e-mail some minor publishers, and do some research on them. You are more likely to get an answer then. In a few years you will be old enough for work experience, so then start inquiring at publishers. it is a great way to get contacts. Keep at it , obviously you will only get older so soon age won't be a problem. I would love to write but am no where near as dedicated as you, i can't believe you are 12! Often the most successful writers have great dedication, (e.g look at jk rowling, she worked on that for years and years before even sending it) . i think if a top publisher wants to publish your book you don't have to pay anything. A guy who has all the time in the world for me, and my boyfriend who doesn't have any at all?

My current boyfriend John and I have been dating exactly a year and four months today (though I'm not counting, I did get a text for him saying so). The minute I met him at a friends birthday party January 1, 2010, i fell head over heels with him, it was like love at first sight, and no I am not being dramatic, it was supposedly the same for him. Anyways, we are both 17, have been dating each other since sophomore year in high school, now almost in our senior year. We are also intimate, which has made our relationship even closer, if somewhat maybe too "comfortable"? Whenever I am with him, it's like all he sees is me (and no i am not being conceited, he just doesn't seem to show much interest in other girls like my other guy friends). Well anyways, a few months ago, someone very close to his family, committed suicide. It even affected me. He seems to always be moody with me though. I have alot of hair. Its volumous and thick like most hispanics. Its a little wavy but on the straighter side. I want to have it long though! I miss how long it was before! Hey guys! I really need some advice here and I would appreciate if you can give your input on this situation. Well I'm 23, I just recently got out of a relationship. All I want is to find somebody that will love me and always be there. I recently met this guy, he's a really good guy. He treats me the way I deserve to be treated and he's good to me. He tells me all the time how much he adores & cares for me, how much he wants to be with me and wants me in his future. It's not only words he shows it in his actions. I'm starting to really like him there is just one problem :-/ he's not physically my type. Forgive me I'm not trying to be shallow but he's not really a good looking guy. We are completely opposite. Not to sound conceited or anything but I'm a beautiful young lady. A lot of guys try and I know I can get a handsome guy but question is would he treat me as good. I'm more into personality but you also have to be at least a little attractive you know. I'm trying to look past that but it's just there. I just think about the future and the image I always had of my dream husband, he doesn't really fit that. He's a great guy and I want to see where this goes but at the same time I wouldn't want to hurt him in the long run because of this. How can I not think about it? What should I do? Take it serious or leave now before I hurt him? How can I just over look that and not think about it? Sorry for sounding shallow I wish I didn't feel this way :(

Yea I was a sucker for love. Fell in love with a conceited girl who was my first thought she was so beautiful and made her feel so special. Mistake I made probably was showing too many emotions so early, giving too many compliments, and putting her on the pedestal, but I didn't know how to be it was my first time ever falling in love. She played me. Since then, I haven't gotten close to anyone its just been several dates but nothing serious. Just can't get over that fear of being heartbroken again, or another guy replacing me etc. This same girl is now chasing me, I never give her attention anymore I've been ignoring her for some time now.

Why do people hate vegetarians so much?

i understand it when vegetarians are pushy and try to force their beliefs on others, but in general why are they hated on? ive been one for a year now and im just curious why people get mad when they discover i am one. im not like, conceited or whatever about it.i dont go around saying im healtheir and better than you and how can you eat that stuff.. i dont even tell people most of the time. when they offer me food i say i already ate or im not hungry or something like that. my boyfriend told me when i can to his cookout to NOT tell anyone if a vegetarian... why is it such a big deal.. i dont eat animals so what?!

Bless your heart. You have been through alot. I was a stepmother for 10 years of four stepkids. it is a difficult to have a "mother" thrown upon you and then you have to do as she says. I put my foot down early in this marriage and told my husband that I refused to discipline the children. Well not always but I got tired of being the bad guy. It is cruel indeed to meet a stranger (stepmother) and then she wields the power in the home. I was uncomfortable with doling out punishment and telling these kids who didn't know me from Adam what to do and how to act and what not to do. It is very unfair to the children and also the stepmother. (If she is worth her salt anyway...that means if she is any good) You have to earn respect. It is just not given. I had to earn my stepkids love and respect. Their mother was neglectful and they lived with my husband and me. Eventually they called me "Mom" but I had earned that privilege. Unfortunately it sounds like you got a pretty rotten stepmother. Her style is being in control and telling you what to do as in chores, etc. She might even believe that your dad and her would get along better without any children. Well, she is wrong. Dead wrong. Know that in your heart. She is a selfish person and is without emotion or kindness. She sounds like the stepmother in Cinderella. She expects respect although she has not earned it. She is abusing her power over you as your "new and crappy mother. Hopefully your mother will get better and when you speak to her (which I hope you do) tell her how much you want her to get better. It sounds like she has her own demons that she is fighting right now. Drug addiction is rough. Nobody intends to become an addict but one you use a drug enough times, your body actually hurts all over when the withdrawal process begins. This stepmother is a cruel person. Pisces are generally not cruel and do not like creulty in general. You are having a hard time dealing with this woman. Can you talk to counselor at school? You have had a very difficult childhood. Ok. Seems like your feeling of having no personality comes from lack of self confidence. I know from my own expirience that when someone asked me a question about what I liked I really didn't know! I couldn't tell! It was like I was numb. Just a theory but, maybe you became concious of the good life you were living. Of how happy you were and how well things were going. Maybe you put pressure on yourself to keep that way. When you missed school perhaps you came back and really wanted to try be popular again. But you realized that you didn't know how to do that anymore almost like you lost your touch and became nervous. You were afraid of being wrong and being unpopular so you thought a good way of keeping your friends was to laugh at what they said and constantly agree with them. Then of course all that with your family probably knocked your self confidence aswell. A good question to ask yourself is "what do I like about myself" are you funny? Nice? Smart? Caring?sporty? If you like nothing about yourself it's time to build some self confidence!
