What's wrong with me that he won't ask me out?

I've been seeing this guys for almost 7 months now. In these 7 months we became very, very close. He tells me that he's never trusted someone so much before and that he coniders me a best friend. We spend almost every single day together just hanging out and talking. We tell each other everything. On top of all of this we both agree that we have the most amazing and intense phyical connection that either of us has experienced with anyone (yes, we do hook up). When we're not spending one on one time together, we have the most fun time going out together- bars, clubs, parties, etc. It's like we can do everything together and have a good time no matter what. He tells me how pretty he thinks I am. Not to be conceited, but I get a lot of male attention and seeing as we are physically active he gets jealous sometimes, even though I would never see another man because I am so into him. Out of the blue, he'll change his mind about me, telling me he doesn't want to hook up anymore or spend so much time together. It's confuing me because he'll initiate spending time together and then decide differently for no reason. I think I might be in love with him, which is something I have never felt with anyone before. We both agree that we have the best time together. If we trust each other, want to hang out with each other all the time, talk about everything together, and have the most incredible sex, doesn't this all mean something? The girls he has chosen to date have been full of drama/girls he ends up finding "boring" and yet he has something right in front of him that he refuses to acknowlege. Why won't he date me? Is it me?
